امبرایر یک شرکت هوا و فضای برزیلی است که از معروف ترین مدل های ناوگان آن در ایران می توان به امبرایر 145 و امبرایر 190 اشاره نمود.
این شرکت در اوایل دهه 1990 تا مرز ورشکستگی پیش رفت و با تصمیم تبدیل آن از یک شرکت دولتی به یک شرکت خصوصی، از ورشکستگی نجات پیدا نمود.

شرکت مک دانل داگلاس یا به اختصار MD توسط شرکت بوئینگ در سال 1997 خریداری شد.
ورود هواپیما های MD به ایران اساسا با هدف جایگزینی به جای ناوگان هواپیما های تپولوف قدیمی خطوط هوایی ایران ، شروع به کار نمود.
هواپیما های MD به مراتب جدید تر و بهتر از هواپیما های توپولف هستند.
MD-81: مدل استاندارد مسافربری با کاکپیت کاملا آنالوگ.
MD-82: دارای موتور بهینه‌سازی شده و توسعه‌یافته نسبت به مدل های قدیمی تر و بهینه سازی شده برای سفر به مناطق گرمسیر
MD-83: ظرفیت حمل سوخت بیشتر به منظور پیمایش مسیر های طولانی تر
MD-87: بدنه کوتاه‌تر برای مسیرهای کوتاه و کم مسافر
MD-88: مشابه MD-82 اما جدیدتر و دارای تجهیزات بروز تر

بدترین نوع ناوگان هوایی ایران در حال حاظر ناوگان تپولوف ها هستند ، این هواپیما های بد نام روسی هنوز هم به ارابه های مرگ آسمان ایران شهرت دارند ، معروف ترین تپولوف، مدل Tu-154 می باشد.
